The number
14 — Fourteen commits, ranked No. 90 nationally and No. 7 in the Pac-12. The class averages 3.08 stars with a 59.3 average Profile grade and a 0.602 average PRO score. JaMarcus Shephard was hired from Alabama on Nov. 28, 2025 — the 33rd head coach in Oregon State history and his first head coaching job. He replaced Trent Bray, who was fired in October 2025 after an 0-7 start to his second season. Robb Akey finished the year as interim. The Beavers went 2-10. Shephard inherited the rebuild.
Before Alabama, Shephard was the assistant head coach, pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Washington during a 14-1 season that included a College Football Playoff national championship game appearance. Rome Odunze, Ja'Lynn Polk and Jalen McMillan all came through his room. He also coached wide receivers at Washington State in 2016. He knows the Pacific Northwest. His first class at Oregon State leans on the I-5 corridor — five of 14 commits are from California, two from Utah, one from Oregon and one from Washington.

Through 14 commits, 12 play defense. The two offensive players are both wide receivers. No quarterbacks yet. No offensive linemen. No running backs. No tight ends. For a program coming off a 2-10 season, the early priority is defense.
The top of the class is coverage. Nathaniel Mensah (6-2, 165, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) leads with an 81.89 Profile grade, 18 offers and a 0.829 PRO score. He is one of three cornerbacks. Amir Reese (5-10, 170, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) brings 20 offers and a 0.760 PRO. Juan Garcia-Okoi (6-0, 170, Denton Ryan, Texas) has 20 offers and a 0.756 PRO. Three corners in a 14-man class — Shephard is prioritizing coverage.
Landon White (6-0, 185, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) is the highest-graded offensive player at 75.83 with 24 offers and the class's highest PRO score at 0.847. He and Mensah come from the same high school — two commits from Rancho Cucamonga signals a pipeline. Jackson Batch (6-2, 180, Stockton, Calif.) is the second receiver at 56.06.
Three safeties. Ayden Payne (6-3, 175, Anaheim, Calif.) grades at 65.87 with 15 offers. Alonzo Green (6-4, 180, Hesperia, Calif.) has the size at 6-4 but only six offers and a 0.534 PRO. Eli Toms (6-2, 185, Phoenix, Ariz.) comes in at 55.13 with eight offers. Between the three corners and three safeties, six of 14 commits are defensive backs.
Three linebackers. Kawai Chamberlin (6-2, 205, Eugene, Ore.) is the highest-graded at 69.80 with 13 offers — and the lone in-state commit in the class. Teave Brown (6-2, 200, Provo, Utah) grades at 46.38 with eight offers. Brody Downs (6-1, 215, Lehi, Utah) is the third at 42.45 with nine offers. Brown and Downs both come from Utah — another geographic cluster.
The defensive line has two tackles and an end. Josiah McKee (6-3, 240, Versailles, Ky.) grades at 56.55. Kataferu Galoia (6-2, 315, Lacey, Wash.) is the heaviest commit in the class at 315 pounds. Hudson Harbuck (6-6, 235, All Saints Episcopal, Texas) is a defensive end with only three offers — the fewest in the class — but at 6-6, 235, the frame is there.
One commit from Oregon. Five from California. The Pac-12 is rebuilding — Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State and Texas State join Oregon State and Washington State for 2026-27. Shephard is recruiting the West Coast.
